Kids in Brooklyn
Playing out in the streets
Games of a bygone era
Kick the can
A “Spaldeen”
High bounce ball
Endless games to play
Stick ball
Where manhole covers are bases
Large circles chalked on the payment
For I Declare War On
Sidewalk handball
Hand ball on brick walls
Stoop ball on my uncle’s front steps
Memories half buried
Like marbles in the dirt
Wonderful memories did them all.
Thanks, I’m glad you did too, I wasn’t sure if anyone would even understand what I was writing about. Thanks for the comment
Thank you Lee
Great shots
Thanks, sometime you get an idea in your head and then you have to figure out to make it happen. None of these games have ever been played here in NH. Here the streets are lined with basketball hoops. Thanks
Many thanx for the wonderful flashback. Brought back late 1940’s and early 1950’s memories of my Newark NJ childhood.
It is amazing how much the world has changed since we were kids, I can remember my first crystal radio, watching TV on a round picture tube and stations going off the air at midnight
